Crescent Purchasing Consortia Member Project
Project:
New Build
In 2018 Calderdale Council invested £8.6 million to bring new, state-of-the-art facilities for pupils and staff at 2 local schools including Copley. The brand new facilities which included a new sports area, would bring a more modern and vibrant teaching experience to children of the local area. Cllr Megan Swift said: “We’re investing in brand new buildings for the schools to help provide the best possible learning experience for local young people. They will benefit from top-class facilities in modern settings.” Nan Oldfield, Headteacher of Copley Primary School at the time, said: “This is a very exciting time for the pupils and staff at Copley School as we look forward to the completion of the new school this summer. Moving into the new building will be the start of a new chapter for the school. The children will have access to some amazing facilities, giving them the well needed space to learn and thrive during their time with us.”
The Requirement
The initial enquiry was to provide the latest interactive technology within the brand-new purpose-built teaching spaces - along with a large format high resolution projection system for the hall. As Roche Audio Visual already had a great relationship with the School, we were invited on site at an early stage when planning had just been approved. We guided the School through the design process with regular meetings with the School Heads and Building Contractors to ensure all power, data and wall structures were as required for their chosen technology.
CPC Member Benefits
A member of the CPC (Crescent Purchasing Consortium), Copley were able to save 20% on the project. As the Top scoring Audio Visual supplier on the CPC framework we are also able to offer a range of Key benefits or features to all CPC members. These include the following:

The Project
We arranged an initial meeting between Sales Manager, Stafford Lund and a number of representatives from the school, including the Headteacher, Head of IT and Estates. In this meeting we discussed the technology the School currently used and how they wanted to teach moving forwards in their new-build. Following on from this meeting we organised Free of Charge technology days on-site, inviting a number of leading manufacturers along to demonstrate their products. This gave the School chance to see the options side by side and discuss the various features directly with the manufacturers.
During the Technology day Clevertouch came out on top. The school had slight reservations so Clevertouch loaned them a trial unit for 2 weeks to use in situ. This period allayed any fears over teaching content and Clevertouch was the chosen solution for the new build. Due to the value of the touchscreen rollout and Hall AV system (and with this being a new build) the project was being funded by the local council. The School went out for tender on the CPC Framework and Roche AV were subsequently awarded the project having given the best value proposal.
As this project was a new build initial site surveys were not an option. In lieu of these, review meetings with the School and the Building Contractors took place throughout the build process, ensuring all services were in the correct locations and the walls had been adequately strengthened.
Due to adverse weather conditions the build was behind schedule, however as the School had ordered early, it allowed Roche to work closely with the contractors and allocate the time needed. Roche engineers then went above and beyond to ensure all deadlines were kept.
The project was signed the off with no issues. As teaching was to begin the following week, we gave the School an initial handover as well as an overview on how to use the new teaching space and hall AV systems.
Clevertouch have been hands-on from the start of the project and basic training was provided during the loan period. Since the installation and initial training, Clevertouch are still continuing with Free of Charge training as part of the whole 5 year project offered to the School.
The Result
"We have worked closely with the school over many years and were delighted to be able to help them with the touchscreens for their impressive new build. We were able to arrange Technology Days for the school to get-hands on with the different options on the market and then organise a trial period for a unit to be left on-site for a thorough evaluation. Being a CPC (Crescent Purchasing Consortia) Member they were also able to make a substantial 20% saving ensuring best value for money. We are proud to have provided the school with touchscreens that will benefit local children for many years to come"
- Stafford Lund, Sales Manager, Roche Audio Visual.
"We have recently moved into a new build school and needed new interactive touchscreens in all of the classrooms. We chose Roche as they were able to source various different touchscreens for us to demo before we made a decision. The team at Roche were very helpful in organising, setting up and quoting us for these screens. After we made a decision on the Clevertouch, Stafford and his team helped us pick a spec suitable for our needs. The installation was handled professionally and they took into account where each touchscreen would need to go depending on the use of the classroom. Roche also advised us on, and installed, an AV system in our new hall. Ensuring the screen and projector were adequate to suit the size of the hall. Since the install, Roche have been on hand to help with any queries or questions we have."
